Skilled Trades Certification (STC) requires people to be an apprentice or journeyperson to work in one of 10 designated trades. Over a two-year period, Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training staff conducted an extensive socio-economic analysis of STC impacts on workers, employers and the economy. This work informed the development of the new Skilled Trades BC Act which received royal assent on March 10, 2022, bringing STC officially into force this June.
