The Career Pathways Professional Development Center (CPPDC) is the premier resource for Texas AEL Grantees and stakeholders on AEL Career Pathway Models. The CPPDC focuses on providing innovative professional development events and resources state-wide that enhance professional learning, curriculum development, and enhance student performance for the following Career Pathway models:
Integrated Education and Training (IET)
Integrated EL Civics (IET for English Language Learners)
Intensive Services
Services to Internationally Trained English Language Learners
Employer Engagement and Workplace Literacy
Correctional Facility Services and Re-Entry for Justice-Involved
Transition to Postsecondary Education.
The Center uses evidence-based research to support system alignment and increase employment and postsecondary outcomes for AEL Grantees and providers. The Center will support system integration through collaboration with Workforce Boards, Institutions of Higher Education, and Career and Technical educational providers through development of an annual Academy for AEL Grantees and stakeholder groups.
For program year 21-22, the CPPDC received additional funding under the Texas Workforce Commission’s Middle Skills Initiative to develop an AEL curriculum that supports career pathways in construction trades. The goal is to develop curriculum for construction industry employees or those entering the construction trades, that will allow successful entry into middle skill jobs by developing the basic skills they need to advance in their chosen construction trade.
