Ms Jan Ellis has worked in the career development sector for over 30 years, both as a practitioner and a senior manager. In her early career she worked as a careers adviser with young people and adults in Nottinghamshire and Surrey (UK).

In the 1990s she was part of the senior management team at VT Careers Management, one of the largest career companies in the UK, responsible for business development, marketing, publishing, international contracts and the careers software and publishing company Lifeskills. In 2009 she set up her own company, Arcamedes, to continue business development projects in the careers sector.

In 2010 she worked as a consultant to the Institute of Career Guidance and in October 2013 she was appointed the Career Development Institute’s first chief executive.

The CDI is the UK-wide professional body for the career development sector, with a membership of over 4,500. The CDI has grown rapidly and is now recognised as the professional voice of the career development sector.

It provides a wide range of member services including free webinars and both accredited and non-accredited training and CPD through the CDI Academy.
