Dear Teacher, Though the peril of COVID is almost behind us the problem of mental health of our children is a serious one. They suffered silently during the lockdown and this has led to many behavioural and study related issues. Their attention span has gone down, they fail to concentrate and sustain attention, many have become aggressive, mobile phone is a new devil now. as they get distracted easily. Many children experienced the financial hardships and have either lowered their aspirations or lost interest and motivation in studies. Children with learning difficulties and disabilities (ADHD, etc) suffered very badly. Teachers need to step in to heal them and bring them into the flow. Sadly, less than 5% schools in India have trained counsellors. In such situation teachers are the only help children have. We want to make every child successful. We believe that if teachers are trained in basic counselling skills and empowered with knowledge, skills and attitudes then they can play an effective role as "Counsellor-Teachers:" and counsel both children and parents.
