So, what is a medical writer? How much do they earn? What is the career path and how do you get your foot in the door?
So before we get into the salaries, lets take a step back and quickly talk about the two different types of medical writer – the First is the medical writer that covers medical education and publications, they tackle Conference abstracts, posters, slide decks, educational tools, websites, promotional material, translational material. The second type of medical writer is in the realm of legal and regulatory documentation and developing clinical study protocols. Other types of medical writing include journalism and marketing, both of which can have a medical writing focus. There are two types of places of work for a medical writer, 1, Medical Communication Agencies (Contract research organisation) and 2, Internal company’s own medical writing teams. Ultimately, a medical writer is responsible for producing well-structured documents that represent information clearly and concisely.
Now sit back and enjoy the video and let me know what you think about the salaries! Multiply them by approximately x1.8 for Switzerland and the US, and x1.1 for EUR in Germany and the EU.
Any comments down below will be much appreciated and if you could share this video with any late stage PhDs whoa re contemplating leaving academia after their PhD defence – that would be most appreciated!
