The Air Conditioning Technology program at West-MEC introduces learners to the basic elements of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. Here, students will be trained to analyze electrical systems, perform maintenance repairs, troubleshoot and install air conditioning and heating units.
In addition to the core curriculum, students are trained for the job-seeking process through mock interviews and resume building workshops. During the program, accommodations and modifications are offered to high school students based on the IEP/504.
After the one-year program is completed, successful candidates will be prepared to seek one or more certifications such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 608. Moreover, West-MEC offers industry credential tests for free. Through the Air Conditioning Technology program and certification, students are provided a pathway to economic independence.
